Obama's speech seen by 38 million viewers

From Yahoo:

NEW YORK - Barack Obama's acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention was seen by more than 38 million people.

Nielsen Media Research said more people watched Obama speak than watched the Olympics opening ceremony in Beijing, the final "American Idol" or the Academy Awards this year. Obama talked before a live audience of 80,000 people in Denver.

His TV audience nearly doubled the amount of people who watched John Kerry accept the Democratic nomination to run against President Bush four years ago. Kerry's speech was seen by just over 20 million people.

Obama's audience might be higher, since Nielsen didn't have an estimate for how many people watched Obama on PBS or C-SPAN Thursday night.

Methinks the republics just had a big accident in their drawers.

I wonder how many people will be watching McSame's speech. Isn't it up against the opening game of the Football season or something ( you know I don't follow sports) and might it be preempted by the aftermath of a hurricane. Personally, I think he may get some ratings but many people will be turning in to see how bad a speech he will give. There is nothing he can do to top Obama's speech. Nothing.

I think the opening night of the RNC and the kickoff of the NFL season on Monday Night Football coincide.

Not going to be a real ratings boost for the republics. That might be by design.

The lineup of speakers includes Lieberman, Bush, Cheney, McCain, and Palin, I think.

That group of sad sacks is going to look real obtuse in comparison to Hill, Bill, Biden, Kerry, and Obama.

The republics have out-cuted themselves, I think.

I think the Rebiblicans would prefer to have ANYTHING get the impending trainwreck of McPOW's speech out of next weekend's news cycle.

I heard this on the way home from work, last night. On NPR.

By Friday, all anyone (even the "left wing" blogs) was talking about was Sarah Palin.

I wonder if Obama's got anything planned to steal the spotlight back from the corrupt Republicans and their prickly old candidate after their freak show, next week.

As we all know, there is far too much going on beyond our reach of knowledge and/or understanding. What we get from ther media is not much more than cow crap; the powers that be have done well in keeping the public dumb and divided.

I feel some sort of sinister medodology in mccain's VP choice. The obvious, of course, is to attract the female voters. The fascist fringe of the present holders of government power have gained and stolen far too much to allow for any set backs or impediments to interfere with that America in the 21st Century manifesto.

From what little I listened to the Dem convention, there was no attack mode -- it was far too much of the same speech given over and over. In spite of the rather banality, there were some points of cheer --- even though the Clintons did not hint that Obama was prepeared to be CIC in the role of prez.

I think what will be presented by the GOP is abortion, patriotism, taxes, a strong and hair trigger military machine, gay marraige, and the few other points of decention that continues to divide the nation. We can be assured that there will be a new set of swift boaters to blow obama out of the political waters. It wil be another nasty campaign ---- all done with a smile.

With the time they've had to update the corrupt vote counting machinery, it is bound to be a sitting on the edge of your seat election day. My guess: McCain will win.

"The fascist fringe of the present holders of government power have gained and stolen far too much..."

Don't forget "trashed the constitution", "obstruction of justice", "contempt of congress", "perjury", and, of course, "war crimes".

If we can succeed in getting Obama into office I intend to mount a drive, as soon as he's sworn in, to have Reagan's records unsealed.

I think when the American people learn the truth about THAT criminal the GOP brand will be tarnished for generations, perhaps permanently.

I'd still like to see a different party replace the GOP as the opposition to the Democrats. They're far too corrupt to even be considered "American".

This is an easily passed over event done by bush-boy, but it is a terrible sign of how far the neo-cons have stolen this nation.

It goes far beyond 'history revisionists' --- it is the theft of history. The oft quoted thought of Thomas Jefferson about having newspapers and a reasonably informed citizenry for our form of government to function is, well, eliminated --- banished.

With all those presidential records sealed, we will never know what went on or what happened. This is another example of our 'rights' that have been taken away. All under the guise of Homeland Security and the National Interest.

On the surface, it may not seem like much, but the true harm --- is monumental.

That there was no comment or citizen anger --- that it was just thought of as insignificant is a blaring sign and signal of how much of our government is out of our control.

This is just one more example of vultures picking at the bones of what was once a great and noble experiment of self government. Even sader, it's a grim indicator of the state of mind of the population/citizenry ---(and I use the word 'citizen' with a glob of vomit resting on the back of my tounge).
