Test
I just installed an anti-spam device. Checking how it works when logged in, and not logged in.
Update: Folks, the site is currently under some kind of attack. It's going to take me some time to get it stopped. Not really the way I wanted to spend a Friday night, but what are ya gonna do when there are so many bushies assholes bushies in the world?
I'll update again when I get it stopped. Until then, you'll have to post elsewhere.
Update II: OK, I think I have it stopped. I'm going to reset everything to where it was this morning and see how it goes from there. One change, though. Anonymous posts will have to verify they're human from now on. If that doesn't work I'll disable anonymous posts, again.
Final update: The spammer was from the Czech Republic. I have their IP range and can block anything they throw at me, now.
Anonymous posts are disabled, probably permanently, but members can post to their heart's content.
Comments, Pingbacks:
Let's see if this keeps the bots from posting any more crap.
I'll delete this thread later.
I'll get him stopped, soon.
This won't affect you registered users. As long as you're logged in you should be able to comment as usual.
Does anyone have an opinion about allowing anonymous comments (and therefore MASSIVE spam attacks, like today when the site got hit with about 100 anonymous porn messages) I should know about?
It's tedious deleting all those posts.
Update: Spam is still appearing even though no comments are allowed by visitors. I've disable ALL comments, temporarily.
Sorry guys, but I'll get things back to normal soon.
Another update: Comments are allowed, again, but must be approved before they're visible. The spammer is getting by all the security except that, so I'm on "chat" with my ISP. I'll update again when I know more.
None of the big blogs allow anonymous posting, so you may be right. I'll leave it at anonymous posters need to verify they're human, for now, but I may take your advice. Soon.
Comments are not allowed from anonymous visitors.
